In most of the countries, government forms the major electricity providers to the individual house holds. Electricity is created basically from water and water is harnessed to produce electricity and another way is from the earth and coal mines which form a rich source of electricity. Nowadays wind mills are being created to produce electricity and the natural resources of water, air and earth form the major sources of electricity providers.

The electricity generated from the various sources are harnessed and stored in the transformers and are transferred to individual house holds from the transformers. Each house hold is fixed a meter to record the level of current usage and based on the current meter reading the house holds are charged the electricity bill and the payment has to be made in the respective electricity bill counters. If the bill is not paid within the deadline then the electricity office officials come to the house and remove the fuse and put fine to the unpaid amount.

In some of the developed countries there are private players who are electricity providers but in most cases the electricity sector is dominated by the public sector. The private players have now become aggressive in becoming the suppliers and are more private players engaged in wind mills like Suzlon and many other private enterprises. Government is the major electricity providers to the house hold and the suppliers to the government are the private players. In most of the developing nations, water forms the main source of electricity and is very much dependent on the rain fall and monsoons are expected for both electricity and agriculture to flourish. Electricity is one of the greatest inventions of mankind and earlier electricity was used to make the visibility in the night and now every thing runs on electricity.

There are various electric appliances and in the recent days, almost every thing runs on electricity in the current world and every thing comes to a stand still including businesses and house holds. When the electricity is in demand, the companies will have to stop working for a couple of hours and this will make the entrepreneurs to reduce the employees and in some cases, the entire enterprise is shut down and will affect the economy as a whole by increasing the unemployment and decreasing the industrial production. Hence the electricity providers play a very crucial role in the economic development of the nation.
